Norris: This year's McLaren is less forgiving

British driver Lando Norris sampled the 2018 McLaren car yesterday and suggested this year’s package is less forgiving. Norris was testing for Pirelli and confirmed the car was better.

Lando Norris currently races in the F2 championship and is part of McLaren's junior programme. He’s only 18 but has 4 Championship titles under his belt.

Comparing the Renault powered MCL33, and last years car, Norris said: “There are definitely some differences. Positive - but there are still some things with the old one which is always positive.

“I think in general, it’s a bit more downforce, it’s good me having the confidence to push at 1,2,3 all the high-speed corners.

“Overall, it’s definitely been a slight step forward.”

The 18-year-old came 3rd in the overall results table yesterday after just 80 laps. He was just over a second behind leader Valtteri Bottas in the Mercedes.

Stoffel Vandoorne, in the other McLaren, came 10th.
