Lewis Hamilton topped FP2 in Spain with a 1:18.259. The pecking order though is far from settled. Red Bull probably had the best day with strong race pace shown by both Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen who finished second and third respectively

The session was a difficult one with wind catching many drivers out, Romain Grosjean was the first to get caught out and beached his car at turn seven early on. The drivers continued to test the limits but the supersoft tyres were very difficult to get the best out of.

Kimi Raikkonen's session came to a premature end after his car seemed to conk out with an engine issue. The Ferrari man coasted back into the pit lane for his engineers to assess the issue but wouldn't run again.

Red Bull look to have strong race pace and could run a contra-strategy on Sunday that could put them right into the mix. Mercedes seemed to prefer the soft tyres as their pace on the red-walled tyres were not as quick as they might have hoped and definitely put them behind the Red Bull's.

Late on, Sergio Perez came to a stop out on track after a loose wheel from a pit stop ended his session, Verstappen and Vettel also had moments at turn one in a very difficult free practice two.

The order however is far from settled and Red Bull look to be in a strong position that they will hope to build on in Saturday's practice with Mercedes and Ferrari's pace unclear.
