Verstappen believes the Spanish Grand Prix is a season defining race

9 May at 12:17

Max Verstappen insists Spain could be a “defining moment” for Red Bull and their 2018 season. The season has already been a rollercoaster for Christian Horner’s team

Ricciardo’s win in China gave the British based team a high, which ultimately crashed down when their two drivers collided two weeks ago. The RB14 has performed well, but crucial errors by Verstappen have made it harder for the team to pick up points.

Ahead of this weekends Spanish Grand Prix, Verstappen insisted: “It could be a defining moment for the season. I’m interested to see how everyone will perform.”

The team, along with most constructors in the paddock, will bring many upgrades to Barcelona. And the Dutchman believes these upgrades will benefit Red Bull.

“I believe our car is very fast, we still need a bit more top speed, but hopefully that will come,” he added.

“I am of course also looking forward to the weekend as I have good memories from my first F1 win there.”

Verstappen will be looking to replicate his 2016 performance on this track to recover from the woes experienced in the last few weeks.
