Red Bull reveal RB13 as they look to fight Mercedes in 2017 F1 season

Red Bull tease RB13 in short video ahead of pre-season testing; Team could be Mercedes' biggest challengers in 2017

Red Bull have revealed their 2017 challenger as they look to end Mercedes' three years of dominance in Formula 1.

At the end of an intense launch week approaching the sport's first track action of the year, the team have teased the car - which they will roll out on the first day of pre-season testing in Barcelona on Monday.

The RB13 features a hole in the nose and a 'shark fin', which all teams, barring Mercedes, have fitted on their challengers so far. More aerodynamic features may be added during the week.

Red Bull, on the back of their impressive second-place finish last season, could be well placed for the new technical regulations with aerodynamic guru Adrian Newey overseeing their chassis design.

This will also be the first full season for the partnership of Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen, widely regarded as the sport's most exciting and talented intra-team duo.

A short video of the RB13 follows the official unveiling of most of the grid's cars, and the four-time world champions will hope for a reliable and quick start to the season at the Circuit de Catalunya's Test One this week.

Overtaking Ferrari as Mercedes' main rivals in 2016, Red Bull were the only team other than the Silver Arrows to claim a victory, with Verstappen and Ricciardo taking a win apiece in Barcelona and Malaysia.

Along with their strong chassis, last season also saw the progress of a Renault engine that had lagged behind their rivals in previous years, and Christian Horner anticipates more of the same in 2017.

"It feels like we are building momentum," the Red Bull boss told Sky Sports F1. "There is a feeling of real optimism within the team that if we can nudge a bit closer on the engine - chassis-wise we are hoping to come up with a good car to give our guys the tools to fight Mercedes.

"We've been quite good with regulation changes before, but nothing can be taken for granted. Mercedes will be the favourites, but if we can narrow that gap down and put them under a bit of pressure it would be great for everyone."
