Ferrari enters GP2 with the Italian Prema Team

Ferrari’s young driver development programme will continue supporting Antonio Fuoco and Charles Leclerc and will team up with GP2’s Prema Team as of 2017. The Italian cars will complete the season in a red and white colour scheme.

Ferrari will continue managing the career of Antionio Fuoco and Charles Leclerc in 2017. The Italian youngster has been member of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2013 while the Monegasque joined it in 2016.

Both talents will step up to GP2 which is F1’s main feeder series. They will form the Prema Team’s line-up.

The Italian Team has previously had big success in GP2. In 2016, their drivers Antonio Giovinazzi and Pierry Gasly fought for the title which was then conquered by the Red Bull-backed Frenchman. Prema had yellow painting for Giovinazzi and a Red Bull-livery for Gasly, but it will change next year because of Ferrari's backing.

Prema’s new line-up will begin the 2017 season in the hope of fighting for the title. Leclerc won the GP3 championship last year which was his first season in the series. The Monegasque won four races, scored four poles, set four fastest laps and stood eight times on the rostrum.

Fuoco completed his second year in GP3 in 2016. The 20-year-old ended the year in third place with two wins.
