The Frenchman’s participation in the event was believed to be in doubt following his costly run-in with Alpine teammate Pierre Gasly on the opening lap of last weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix. Ocon had passed Gasly on the inside as the pair entered Portier but then tripped over the latter’s car on the corner’s tight exit.
