Alonso: Track was 99 percent dry when I pitted
Article To news overview © XPBimages Fernando Alonso believes Aston Martin made the right call to switch him to Medium tyres during his initial pit stop, despite the downpour forcing him to switch to Intermediates the following lap. The pit stop happened when the conditions started to worsen, after drizzle soaked the middle sector and prompted calls to pit for Intermediate tyres. Drivers at the rear of the field led the switch to Intermediates, while Alonso chose to stay on dry tyres after the team believed that it would only be a short shower of rain.
