Numerous senior Ferrari staff to join rivals after engineer defects to McLaren

The 2023 season was supposed to represent a fresh start for Ferrari, with new team principal Fred Vasseur hoping to lead the team away from last season’s problems. Ferrari were generally very quick last season but reliability issues and strategic blunders cost Charles Leclerc and the team a shot at both championships, despite building up a healthy early lead over Red Bull. The 2023 season opener in Bahrain did not go to plan for the Scuderia however, as the team were outperformed by Red Bull in qualifying before capitulating in the race.
