The pair have clashed on numerous occasions on track throughout the 2022 season, notably during the Brazilian Grand Prix Sprint race when the pair made contact and cost the team valuable points. Their relationship was strained further when Alonso announced he will leave Alpine at the end of the season for Aston Martin, which left the Frenchman disappointed.
