WATCH: Verstappen nearly runs into "Godzilla" in Singapore

Video To news overview © XPBimages The Singapore Grand Prix has thrown up some memorable Formula 1 moments down the years, but none are as bizarre as when Max Verstappen nearly hit a lizard on the track. F1 and animals on track happen from time to time, with dogs, birds and even groundhogs finding their way onto the racing surface, but a lizard is something unique. It happened during a practice session at the 2016 Singapore Grand Prix - Verstappen's first with the main Red Bull squad. Race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase joked that his driver had come "face-to-face with Godzilla" as the reptile ran across the exit of Turn 3 as he was passing.
