Szafnauer expects Piastri to be racing in F1 in 2023
Alpine team principal Otmar Szafnauer expects reserve driver Oscar Piastri to be on the grid in F1 next season, with the team weighing various options for the young Aussie. After winning back to back championships in Formula 3 and in Formula 2, Piastri had no viable options to race in F1 this year. He was subsequently assigned a reserve role with Alpine while also undertaking an extensive F1 testing program with the Enstone squad in preparation for his Grand Prix debut in 2023.
