Sainz hit the Red Bull of Perez during the final moments of qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix, in an incident that brought out the red flag with just 30 seconds left on the clock. Perez had collided with the barriers at the entrance to the tunnel by his own accord, just ahead of Sainz, who was approaching quickly from behind and was unable to stop in time despite yellow flags being waved.
