Alonso pushing for 3rd title as Red Bull comment on prospect of signing him

Alpine’s Fernando Alonso sees no reason why he cannot add a third championship to his collection after his successful return to Formula 1 last season. Alonso scored points on 15 occasions in 2021 having returned from a two-year hiatus from the pinnacle of motorsport, and out-qualified team-mate Esteban Ocon 11 times while out-performing the same number of times in race trim. The Spaniard also claimed his 98th career podium when he finished third in Qatar, and he might have made it 99 in Melbourne this year had it not been for an oil seal failure in qualifying when he looked set for pole, followed by an unfortunately timed Safety Car in the race that put him out of the points.
