F1 2022 Spanish GP - Race results

Article To news overview © XPB Max Verstappen triumphed in an action-packed Spanish Grand Prix that saw title rival Charles Leclerc retire from proceedings. Leclerc had dominated the race from pole position until a loss of power at the halfway mark forced him into a costly retirement. Verstappen - having survived an early trip through the gravel - assumed the lead as the tyre strategies played out, spearheading a Red Bull 1-2 with teammate Sergio Perez. George Russell put up a fight to claim a well-deserved podium, but Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton was unable to join him after clashing with Kevin Magnussen on the first lap.
