Mercedes were perfect in qualifying for the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton was fastest and Valtteri Bottas next best, but the P1-P2 becomes P1-p11 as the world champion takes a ten-place grid drop engine penalty. It was the best they could do on the day, and under the circumstances, it would be unwise to believe they cannot pull off a one-two in the race, keeping in mind the considerable pace they have untapped at Istanbul Park.
