Formula 1 helps create pioneering PPE device

The University of Leicester and Formula 1 engineers have worked in tandem to create a pioneering system for medical staff to be able to communicate while wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE). Formula 1's involvement in the process came as a part of ‘Project Pitlane', to which seven UK-based teams signed up in 2020 on a non-profit basis to help in the fight against Covid-19. The new communications device, called the MedicCom, allows doctors and nurses to speak clearly to each other while wearing full protective gear.
