Why FIA chose not to use MotoGP pit lane exit for F1

Ian Parkes & Ewan Gale Tuesday 4 May 2021 08:37 FIA race director Michael Masi has revealed the MotoGP pit lane exit at Portimão had to be ruled out for F1 across the Portuguese Grand Prix weekend. F1's solution at the exit of the pit lane feeds cars into the pinch-point of the high-speed apex of turn one, however, eagle-eyed viewers noticed a feed-through on the inside of the first corner from the helicopter shots of the race used by MotoGP.
