Alonso explains Alpine’s ‘godfather of everybody' tag

Fernando Alonso said it is 'a little bit odd' that he is one of the most experienced members of the whole Alpine team staff, after Renault CEO Luca de Meo had dubbed the two-time World Champion as the 'godfather of everybody' at the French outfit. De Meo said that Alonso has a different role at the team than the one he fulfilled for Renault 15 years ago, as one of the senior members of the team and guiding the direction of the constructor moving forward. With De Meo asking Alonso to use all his experience to help lead Alpine on the track, the Spaniard says it is a new dynamic for him to get used to this season.
