Hamilton explains panic of mid-race crash at Imola

The reigning Champion had just emerged from the pits following the switch from the intermediate to dry tyres, and was negotiating traffic as he attempted to close on race leader Max Verstappen. However, while lapping George Russell's Williams, Hamilton got onto the wet patch at Tosa and slid wide into the gravel and damaged his front wing against the barrier.
