‘Mercedes need to win a title without Hamilton'

Former World Champion Jacques Villeneuve believes Mercedes need to boost their own image by winning a title without Sir Lewis Hamilton. The dominant German outfit have established themselves as the greatest force Formula 1 has ever seen, winning the Drivers' and Constructors' titles for the past seven seasons. And out of those seven Drivers' titles, Hamilton has won six, adding to his first achieved with McLaren back in 2008. In the turbo hybrid era, only Nico Rosberg has been able to stop Hamilton, pipping his then Mercedes team-mate to the title in 2016, and then retiring shortly after.
