Tost thanks rivals for engine freeze green light

AlphaTauri boss Franz Tost has offered a universal ‘thank you’ to all parties who agreed on the engine freeze that triggered the new Red Bull Powertrains enterprise. Tost has stated it was the “best solution” for the two Red Bull-owned teams to source their own supply of engines following Honda’s decision to pull out of F1 at the end of this year. To make such a project financially viable, for it means setting up an engine factory at Red Bull’s Milton Keynes base with the acquisition of Honda’s intellectual property, a freeze on power-unit development from 2022 was considered necessary.
