Ricciardo: Renault bloomed after ‘timid' start

Daniel Ricciardo says he saw Renault blossom from a “timid environment” when he first joined them into a team regularly targeting the F1 podium. The Australian moved to Renault for the 2019 season after leaving Red Bull and following a disappointing first year, enjoyed tangible success in the second half of the 2020 campaign. It was capped by Renault’s first three podium finishes as a manufacturer since 2011, the first two of which were provided by Ricciardo at Imola and the Nurburgring. The third came courtesy of Esteban Ocon at the Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain. Those results also meant Ricciardo could depart with his head held high, having confirmed before the delayed season had...
