Wolff does not rule out Hamilton leaving: 'We have to be ready for that'

The contract negotiations between Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes are in full swing and almost non-existent. The seven-time world champion is asking a lot of money, but Mercedes would rather cut back on Hamilton's contract. Toto Wolff sees the importance of the world star in his team and so he takes his time for the contract. "He is the fastest driver and the smartest driver. He understands the dynamics within a team, has technical knowledge, but also sees himself in the right context within the organisation and he doesn't see the team as a solar system where everything revolves around him", explains the team boss of Mercedes in conversation with Motorsport.com.
