Mercedes was once again in a class of its own at the Nürburgring. Although Max Verstappen was able to stay close to Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton in the opening phase, he eventually had to acknowledge his superior in the reigning world champion. Martin Brundle recognizes that Hamilton is in good shape and is fast heading for the seventh world title. "After the race on Sunday he said he could see at Bottas that the front tyres were in bad shape and that he was therefore putting pressure on them.
