Perez eyes F1 stay, wants long-term project

Sergio Perez says his priority is to remain in Formula 1 next season and wants a project with which he can contest the new cycle of regulations that will begin from 2022. Perez confirmed on Wednesday that he will be leaving Racing Point at the end of 2020, after his contract was terminated early, and will be replaced by Sebastian Vettel. Perez’s options to remain in Formula 1 appear limited. Only Ferrari customer teams Alfa Romeo and Haas – eighth and ninth in the standings – appear to be viable options.
