Bottas continues Mercedes dominance at Silverstone in FP1

Mercedes controlled proceedings during opening practice for Formula 1’s 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone. Mercedes has dominated the early stages of the delayed 2020 campaign, taking all four pole positions and victories, and once more the W11 was the class of the field on Friday morning. Formula 1 teams trialled Pirelli’s C4 compound during the opening 90-minute session at a warm and sunny Silverstone, with the tyre nominated as the Soft for this weekend’s event. Pirelli has gone one step softer with its three nominated compounds for the second of back-to-back events at Silverstone, with the C4s being introduced, and the C1s no longer available.
