On the seventh stage of the 2020 Dakar Rally, Paulo Goncalves died after a crash caused a cardiac arrest. Goncalves was part of the Hero MotoSports team who have since withdrawn from the rally.  The motorcycle racer suffered a cardiac arrest during the seventh leg of the rally. It was a black day for the entire event and every motorsport enthusiast. The next day's stage was therefore canceled for the motorcyclists.
