Leclerc avoids penalty for power unit change

United States Grand Prix – Charles Leclerc will line up in P4 without penalty for Sunday's, despite grinding to a halt in a cloud of smoke during FP3. The Ferrari driver brought out the Virtual Safety Car just minutes into the third practice session at the Circuit of the Americas. Having headed out to start his first lap of the session, Leclerc was forced to pull over and park the car in a cloud of smoke as he radioed in 'There's something wrong with the engine.' Missing all of FP3 as a result, Ferrari were able to diagnose the issue and fit his car out with another power unit. As it was one that's already been used this season, he didn't take a grid penalty.
