One lap short from glory but still the moral victor

Damon Hill was the moral victor of the 1997 Hungarian Grand Prix held on this day 22 years ago, just missing out on a sensational win with his Arrows-Yamaha. The reigning world champion was out in front heading to the checkered flag when a hydraulic issue put him out of contention on the final lap of the race and handed the win to Jacques Villeneuve's Williams.  Hill had endured a dismal year with Arrows, but second place was unfortunately no consolation for what should have been a major upset victory.
