Wolff baffled by 'risky' Ferrari tyre strategy

Austrian Grand Prix – Toto Wolff said that he doesn't understand Ferrari's choice to start the race on the soft-compound tyre. With Ferrari and Mercedes frequently having a pace advantage over their rivals in Q2, they have often opted to progress on a harder grade of Pirelli tyre. The regulations state that if a driver progresses from Q2 to Q3, they must start the race on the tyres which took them through to the final part of qualifying. Mercedes and Red Bull both chose to progress on the medium tyres, and demonstrated that they had enough pace to reach Q3.
