Robert Fernley leaves McLaren after Indy500 failure

McLaren has parted ways with Robert Fernley just one day after Fernando Alonso failed to qualify for the Indy500. Fernley was put in charge of McLaren's Indycar efforts but has left after the shock result. Fernando Alonso missed out by 0.2 mph in the average four-lap speed. Fernley, former Force India deputy principal, was only contracted until the 2019 Indy500. Alonso was hoping to find the final piece of the Triple Crown jigsaw having already won the Monaco Grand Prix and Le Mans 24.
