FIA appoints Michael Masi as Australian GP race director

Following the sudden passing early this morning in Melbourne of Charlie Whiting, the FIA has announced that Australian Supercar deputy race director Michael Masi will fulfill the role of F1 race director this weekend. Whiting, F1's resident race director since 1997, suffered a pulmonary embolism in Melbourne, leaving the F1 community in shock from the 66-year-old's passing.
