Sauber change name ahead of 2019 F1 season

Sauber has changed its official team name to Alfa Romeo Racing for the 2019 Formula 1 season, ending almost 30 years of the famous moniker's presence on the F1 grid. The news follows a title sponsorship, and technical partnership, with the Italian brand in 2018. Peter Sauber's eponymous team have been F1 ever-presents since 1993, having featured as BMW Sauber from 2006-2009. A similar tie-up with Alfa Romeo last year helped a huge revival in the team's fortunes, as closer ties with Ferrari enabled them to take Charles Leclerc for his rookie year in F1.
