Whiting: Max went off the track and rejoined unsafely

In the wake of an incident-packed Japanese Grand Prix, Max Verstappen had a poke at the powers that be by ridiculing the five-second penalty he received for his feisty defence of third place from Kimi Raikkonen early on in the race at Suzuka. The incident between the Red Bull driver and his Ferrari rival is well documented, with the FIA race stewards ruling swiftly: “Car 33 left the track at turn 16 and re-joined unsafely.' But after the race, Verstappen made no bones about his feelings, 'I don't know why I got a penalty. It is a bit stupid.'
