McLaren to gamble on extreme set-up at Sochi

McLaren could run a more extreme set-up on their cars in Russia as they look to improve the straightline speed of the MCL33. The Woking team trialed several ideas at Monza as they went with a more aggressive set-up choice before reverting to a conventional approach in Singapore. Fernando Alonso is hoping they are willing to gamble at the next race when F1 heads to Sochi for the Russian GP. He said: 'Some of the ideas we tested in Monza where we improved on the Saturday were more for drag reduction, so will be implemented.
