Alonso explains F1 exit... and hints at return

Fernando Alonso has explained why he will not race in Formula 1 in 2019, but dismissed any notion of retirement - suggesting he could return to McLaren if they are able to regain their competitive edge in the future. Alonso confirmed that he will quit F1 at the end of 2018 on Tuesday, with a move to IndyCar likely in the offing. Alonso has made little secret of his frustrations since returning to McLaren in 2015, only to find a team in structural chaos, hampered further by a ruinous relationship with Honda.
