Lopez makes Formula E return as Jani exits Dragon

Jose Maria Lopez will return to Formula E with Dragon Racing, after rookie Neel Jani parted ways from the team after just one race weekend. The Porsche driver cited a change in plans as the reasoning behind his departure. A planned technical tie-in with Porsche, similar to Andretti’s with BMW, was eventually canned before the start of the 2017/18 season. Jani scored only a pair of 18th-place finishes during the Hong Kong ePrix weekend, while team mate Jerome D’Ambrosio also struggled. Dragon is the only team to leave the first weekend of the season having not scored points. Jani’s remaining contracted drive for 2018 is with Rebellion’s new LMP1 campaign.
