New Singapore GP deal “very close”, says promoter

Singapore race promoter Colin Syn says a deal for the race to continue in 2018 and beyond is “very close.” Along with China, the Singapore race as marked as provisional in the first 2018 calendar that was published last month. While its future has never been in serious doubt, a new deal has yet to be officially signed with the F1 organisation. First held in 2008, the race is in the final season of the second of two five-year deals signed with Bernie Ecclestone. Syn, the deputy chairman of the Singapore GP organisation, was at the British GP, where he met with the sport’s new owners.
