Bourdais suffers pelvis, hip factures in Indy 500 crash

A violent crash during Saturday's qualifying session for the Indianapolis 500 had resulted in several fractures for Sebastian Bourdais. A small correction of oversteer sent him straight into the wall, badly damaging his car that immediately burst in flames as well. Rescue workers were rapidly at the scene, and Bourdais was conscious and moving throughout the incident. However, as the car stopped, he failed to upen up his helmet, while also requiring the marshalls to extract him from his car. Bourdais was subsequently transferred to the IU Health Methodist Hospital. An official statement from IndyCar confirmed multiple factures.
