Mercedes newcomer Valtteri Bottas says he didn't reach the bar he had set for himself in the first qualifying of F1 2017 in Melbourne, as the Finn missed out on the front row. Having lapped 0.293s off teammate Lewis Hamilton, who took pole for the Australian GP, Bottas was then denied a front row start by Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel in the dying seconds of the final segment.
