Alonso concedes Q3 likely out of reach with old Honda engine

Fernando Alonso expects his McLaren team to struggle to make it into the top 10 in qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix. The Spaniard was 10th in second practice, two places ahead of teammate Jenson Button, but expects the Mercedes-powered teams to have the usual advantage in qualifying. Alonso, who is not using the latest-spec engine from Honda, reckons the whole weekend will be tougher for his team after a strong fifth in Austin. "We know the the cars with the Mercedes engine on Saturday gain a few tenths because they have the qualy button," said Alonso.
