Record attendance for British Grand Prix

The Silverstone organisers have confirmed the final attendance figures for the British Grand Prix were better than forecast. As earlier reported, Friday's figure was a record at 88,000, up 3,000 on 2010. Saturday saw a record 105,000 fans pack the grandstands and general admission areas whilst Sunday was also a record breaker with 122,000 in attendance. Richard Phillips, managing director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, thanked the fans for making the event the best in the world.
