McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella says there is "no link" between Red Bull's Rob Marshall joining the team and the possibility of a future engine deal with the Milton Keynes-based squad.
It was announced in May that top Red Bull engineer Marshall will start a new role as Technical Director, Engineering and Design with McLaren in January 2024.
Meanwhile, as previously reported by RacingNews365.com, McLaren CEO Zak Brown visited the Red Bull Powertrains facility in Milton Keynes in February with initial talks over using their power units in 2026.
McLaren's current supply of Mercedes engines is set to run until the end of the 2025 season, the final year before a new generation of power unit regulations are introduced for the following season.
However, when asked if there was any link between Marshall's arrival at McLaren and a future Red Bull power units deal, Stella denied that this was the case.

"I can confirm there is no link," Stella told media, including RacingNews365.com.
"We had conversations with Red Bull a few months ago as part of the due diligence in exploring what's available in the market in terms of power unit for 2026.
"But at the moment, we are quite advanced in our negotiations with HPP, so there's no conversation ongoing with Red Bull."
