Why Marko isn't worried after Red Bull floor reveal

The floor of Sergio Perez's RB19 was revealed to all after being lifted by a crane off the Monaco track, but Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko is not concerned about the possibility of rivals trying to copy.

Helmut Marko believes that it would be difficult for Red Bull's rivals to copy after the floor of their Formula 1 car was revealed over the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.

The underside of Sergio Perez's RB19 became visible for all to see when it was lifted by crane away from the track following his crash in qualifying, with the incident occurring only hours after Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes had its floor exposed in similar circumstances.

While this allowed for other teams to potentially take a closer look at the intricate detail of the championship-leading Red Bull car, Christian Horner played down the significance of the reveal.

Similarly, Marko thinks that seeing the floor alone is not enough for the squad's competitors to easily copy their design.

"Of course we don't like it," Marko told Motorsport.com about the floor of the RB19 being exposed.

"The floor is very important, but if you don't have the other parts and all the underlying concepts, then it's not so easy. And the Mercedes car was even longer up in the air.

"But I think nobody was as interested in the Mercedes floor as people were in our car."

Marko believes that the team's rivals would need to understand how all of the parts work to manage airflow in order to fully benefit from seeing the car's floor.

"It’s not only the floor," the Austrian explained.

"It has to work together with the front wing and the rear end. So it's about all those things combined, and that is much more complex than just the floor."
