Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko sees a potential candidate for the AlphaTauri seat in Liam Lawson, should Nyck de Vries not perform well enough. The 80-year-old Austrian recently dealt De Vries a 'yellow card' for his disappointing results in the AlphaTauri.

The Red Bull advisor recently explained that a driver change was not necessary if De Vries improved his performance. "He has clearly fallen short of his expectations so far. We have to see how we solve that in the future," Marko said in an interview with Kronen Zeitung.

Lawson possible successor?

Marko does see a possible successor in Lawson, he said in the interview. "Nothing is concrete, but he is definitely a potential candidate. We first have to decide what to do and when to do it."

The Dutch AlphaTauri driver has currently yet to score a point this season, but did finish 12th in Monaco. This was already an improvement on what he showed earlier this season, but whether it is enough remains to be seen.
