Tsunoda explains brake issues that cost him Monaco GP points

Yuki Tsunoda has explained the problems with his brakes that cost him a shot at points in the Monaco Grand Prix.

The AlphaTauri driver was running in the points having qualified in P9 on the grid, but lost positions towards the end of the race when he reported a brake issue in his car.

The issues caused his pace to drop off towards the end after he lost confidence in the car, ultimately ending the race in P15 and two laps down.

"Until the race started it was good, but I had a brake issue and couldn't push at all and just the pace was really, really poor," he told media, including RacingNews365.com.

Tsunoda has a near miss trying to recover brakes

While defending from Valtteri Bottas he went straight on at Mirabeau, taking to the escape road and nearly crashing into the barrier.

Tsunoda explains the near miss was due to him attempting to remedy the situation after advice from his team on how to manage the brake issues.

He explained: "The team said to push the brake more because the temperature will come up, so the brake will be in a normal range. So I pushed it to see how it goes and I nearly went into the wall."
