Red Bull Racing has finally tied the knot: AlphaTauri will not be sold. The Italy-based team will remain under the wings of the Red Bull group, although a change is imminent. AlphaTauri will house a larger part of its operations in the UK.

Speaking to Formel1.de, Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko spoke clear words: "The decision has been made. AlphaTauri will remain fully owned by Red Bull and will continue to be managed as a junior team," the Austrian said. That does not mean that everything will remain the same.

More people based in UK

Red Bull and CEO Oliver Mintzlaff of the energy drinks group have decided to create as much synergy as allowed by the regulations. Specifically, this means that more staff than before will work not in Faenza but in England. Currently, the English town of Bicester houses AlphaTauri's aerodynamics department and more staff will be deployed there. The team's management will not move to England. The successors to current team boss Franz Tost, namely Laurent Mekies and Peter Bayer, will remain in Faenza.

Whether the team will be renamed in the future, however, remains a possibility. Currently, the team is named after Red Bull's fashion brand. That name may disappear, those in charge informed the German website.
