Kimi Raikkonen has reportedly signed a contract extension with Ferrari keeping him at the team alongside Sebastian Vettel for the 2019 season. The Finn has already put pen to paper according to Spanish media, extending his second spell with the team to its fifth year.

According to Guiamotor.com, Raikkonen has already signed a one-year contract extension, putting pen to paper during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend. The rare appearance of his family members at the race was apparently directly related to the Iceman discussing a possible extension on his current deal with the team.

"The whole Raikkonen family was present all weekend, something that normally never happens. This was because the whole family had at least two conversations with the management of the Ferrari driver and the Ferrari summit," reported the Spanish outlet.

"Kimi can sign for one year and the Finn seems to be happy to do so. A pension then seems to be on the horizon because he is already quite old and would like to spend more time with his family."

The deal would mean that Ferrari hopeful Charles Leclerc would have to make do with a seat at either Sauber or Haas until the seat opens up after Raikkonen's retirement, with Vettel more than happy to keep his current teammate alongside him than to deal with the hot prospect so soon.
