Alonso not willing to aid Verstappen in title fight

Fernando Alonso has said Red Bull have to fight their own battles if Max Verstappen wants to win the title, rather than relying on others for help. Alonso's form has been on an upward trajectory as the season has progressed, with his Alpine gradually climbing the pecking order – evidenced by qualifying P6 in each of the last two races. Lewis Hamilton's grid penalty led Alonso to his first top-five start in Formula 1 since the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, and the 40-year-old put on a masterclass of defensive driving to hold up the Mercedes driver at the Hungarian Grand Prix in August.
