Pirelli explain why 1800 Australian Grand Prix tyres had to be recycled

Last weekend the Australian Grand Prix was due to take place but instead, it was called off at the last minute. Pirelli had brought 1,800 to be used throughout the weekend but they are not going to waste and will be sent back to the UK to be recycled.  “We crush the tyres in order to fit them in fewer containers and send them back to the UK where we recycle them in a cement factory close to Didcot,” Pirelli motorsport boss Mario Isola told Motorsport.
